Sundays bring Tokyo-ites and other tourists to Chichibu for hiking, cycling and sight-seeing. The temple is always a hive of activity and bursts of autumnal colours. Shrine number 13 is pictured, one of many on the pilgrimage route.
Saturday I awoke to the first frost of icicles of the season and Kakizakai had to scrape the ice off the windscreen before heading to Tokyo for our lesson. The spaceship is the Toyota car showroom in Ikebukuro. Ginko leaves and nuts plummet to the forecourt of the temple in Chichibu.
